Danielle Talamini
Indie / Rock / Americana
Brooklyn-born Danielle Talamini is a country gal at heart,
with a sound inspired by the southern rock-n-soul of John
Fogerty and Tom Petty, and a dose of Outlaw country a la
Willie, Waylon and the boys. The result is "The Road Rises,"
a collection of songs about roads traveled the hard way, not
knowing quite where you'll end up, and the good things in
store just up around the bend |

Scott Nolan Band
Scott Nolan is from Winnipeg,
on the prairies of western Canada, but his songwriting is a
loving nod to its vintage country and blues roots, enhanced
by his wickedly wry, clever lyrics and fresh delivery. The
singer-guitarist with the high-lonesome drawl can crank up
the amps and dish out his share of raw-boned roots-rock or
raucous hillbilly boogie. But for the most part, his songs
reflect that time and place when you turn down the lights,
pour another shot and hang out at the smoky end of the bar
drinking to forget |

then, he has tirelessly pursued his quest, all
the while narrowly avoiding work, debt

EMILY HOPE & STEPH TAYLOR AND
THE STATE OF
Emily Hope
Indie / Folk / Jazz
So she went to
school for classical cello for a long time, when one day,
Emily Hope Price realized how happy it made her to write and
sing her own music for cellos and metalaphones about big
songs and little loves... and how great it is to do it all l
i v e... With a love of lots of different kinds of music
(growing up with oldies from the 1920-1960s thanks to her
dad and majorly crushing Michael Jackson in kindergarten-
saving 300 pennies to buy a M.J. bio-book at the school book
fair...) and the fantastic wonderment of composers like
Part, Riech, Cage, and Crumb, Emily writes little songs
about tragedies and sounds, heavy souls and thick colors...
she also writes lonely cello songs that involve a little
cellistic experimentation like acoustic distortion,
multi-tracking, looping, sampling, with improvisation. Emily
also does frequent studio work for other musicians in New
York City and surrounding areas, writing and arranging cello
parts for pretty, slow songs and grungy, fast songs. She has
performed with and recorded for many great musicians in all
parts of the country and has more recently been seen digging
the groove with Brooklyn based band Pearl and the Beard (myspace.com/pearlandthebeard).
Steph Taylor and the State Of
Indie / Pop / Rock
Steph Taylor and the State Of is the product of the recent
marriage between Steph Taylor’s edgy piano playing and
Nabedi Osorio’s electronic-like live drumming. Their dark
pop sensibility was born out of their mutual love and
respect for each other’s instruments and is reminiscent of
artists ranging from Radiohead and the Police to Tori Amos
and Bjork. Taylor’s style of playing is often percussive and
dark where Osorio’s drumming is melodic and steadfast. The
common bond that makes their music come together is the
intricate nature of their respective styles and when
coupled, they create a dynamic sound larger than what’s
expected out of two people.
With a plethora of new material, they are touring in the
Fall to showcase songs from their upcoming album, Day Of
Abandon, which has tracks that vary from live drum and bass
beats met with melodic piano movements to guitar driven rock
songs, all reflecting that dark, haunting sound that Steph
Taylor is notorious for capturing.
To experience a Steph Taylor show these days is not to see a
songwriter in the spotlight, backed up by a drummer hiding
in the shadows. Instead, you see two girls sitting
side-by-side, small framed with large instruments in one
spotlight that grants them the rightful title, ‘indie duo’. |

tucksy
Jazz / Pop / Americana
Tucksy has "a highly listenable yet creative sound"
--AllAboutJazz-New York
"a vibraphonist with a charismatic and pointedly
contemporary style"
--Nate Chinen, New York Times
Tucksy is a New York-based genre-bending jazz
band that focuses on the original writing of
band-leader Dan McCarthy, as well as cover songs
from well-known rock and pop bands. Conceptually,
the band strives to create music that breaks the
rules of jazz by blending bluegrass, rock, and
country with a post-modern jazz aesthetic, and by
fusing the grooves of hip-hop and funk music with
the improvisational approach of jazz. Most
importantly, the band focuses on melody and
song-structure and creates music that appeals to a
broad spectrum of listeners. Oh, and let it be known
that this band is led by the combination of banjo
and vibraphone; a first in the jazz world…. and
bluegrass world… and country world… and rock world…
But don't let the novelty fool you, as the pedigree
of the players and the quality of the musicianship
is apparent from the first note.

Britt Neal
Acoustic / Blues / Country
Britt Neal is no son
of a preacher man. But she is the daughter of one. So, yes,
her introduction tothe power of those black-and-white keys came while seated at
the piano in the front of her father's
church. While not busy playing hide-and-seek in the church
graveyard, or sampling the grape juice
used for Communion wine, Britt cut her teeth on Southern
Baptist standards. But, if you're looking
for a girl schooled in Southern graces, Britt ain't it.
She's about as down to earth as they come.
And when she lets loose with her savory voice and wandering
fingertips, she warms the faces of
all who gather around her piano. |

power of her voice until her early twenties. With
influences ranging from Emmylou Harris to The
Cranberries, this up and coming artist is carving out
a niche for herself in the indie-acoustic music scene
of New York City. Katie’s passion-filled songs have a
fearless, yet graceful way of forcing people to stop
and recognize that a life untested is a life unlived.
“Her skilled vocals and song writing ability mark
Katie Arnold as a gifted talent.”
-- Dave Kellogg,
syndicated radio personality
Jodie Manross
Folk Rock / Acoustic / Blues
“Her crisp voice and illuminative songcraft belie her
diminutive stature…equal parts wistful and urgent, it’s
atmospheric music that will touch your heart and mind.”
-Los Angeles' Entertainment Weekly
“It’s no wonder why people rave about her power to breathe
life into a song.”
- Boone, NC’s The Mountain Times
“Jodie’s voice is strong, rarefied and, to risk hyperbole,
maybe even angelic.”
– Knoxville, TN’s Metropulse
“Manross’ rafter-rattling vocals can shatter even the
hardest heart.
–Charlotte, NC’s Creative Loafing
With her acoustic-based, blues-influenced folk rock, Jodie
Manross has become one of Tennessee’s --and now New YorkCity--top
singer-songwriters. Known as “the little woman with the big

her size and surprises audiences with her soulful delivery

Taylor Giacoma
Singer-songwriter-pianist
Taylor Giacoma is quickly becoming known on the indie music
scene for a distinctive style that has been described both
as folky pop and poppy folk - and is probably neither.
Originally learning to sing and play piano by ear and later
classically-trained, her music is both easily accessible and
remarkably complex. Her lyrics are unusually intellectual
and highly narrative, taking the listener on uniquely
intimate and yet wonderfully universal journeys of love,
loss, and perseverance. Her beautiful voice captivates
listeners with an extraordinary range and strength that
betrays her petite frame.
Her debut album, Transatlantic Lammy, was released in 2007
and has been hailed as a creative success, particularly the
transatlantic love song Nearer Than Closeness. Taylor lives
in New York, New York with an Englishman and a cat, and also
has a home near Manchester, England. |

24 year old Brooklyn singer-songwriter and drummer Maia
Macdonald began her musical journey at age 7 after she was a
given a drum on the streets of Barranquilla, Colombia. She
soon began to teach herself to play the guitar using an old
Spanish classical guitar forgotten in the attic. Years
later, she fell in love with the music of Haiti and Brazil,
and traveled to Port-Au-Prince to study folkloric drumming.
At the same time, Maia continued writing and performing
deeply personal folk songs grounded in rhythm. Maia has
developed a loyal following through her shows at Union Hall,

has spent 2008 recording "Islands Are Born", her upcoming

distinctly modern, Sunroom takes the American

unpolished, and alive music with introspective and
soulful lyrics.

a timeline of family history, tracing Lamoureux's ancestors

of his parents' generation with Vietnam, and eventually
concluding with his life in Omaha. Timelines & Tragedies is

range...has a lovely crystalline quality and works well
with simple acoustic arrangements" writes online journal
Musical Discoveries
in their review of New York based singer-songwriter Jo
Williamson. An army brat, Jo Williamson spent her
childhood moving all over the United States and Europe
living on different military bases with her family. She
fell in love with performance at an early age and moved
to New York to formally study theater and music. It was
here she started playing guitar and writing songs.

Pamela Means
Acoustic singer/songwriter
"Means is, quite simply, superb...Her guitar playing is
very tasty indeed, her voice...tender, and her version of
Billie Holiday’s “Strange Fruit” is heart-rending.”
